Who Needs UCR?
UCR is required for interstate motor carriers (for-hire and private), freight brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies. If you have a USDOT number and operate interstate, you likely need to register.
Fees are set by fleet size brackets, from 0-2 vehicles up to fleets of hundreds. Brokers and forwarders without vehicles register at the smallest bracket. We confirm your bracket before filing so you don't overpay or under-register.
What Happens After I Order?
We confirm your company details and fleet size, file your UCR for the current registration year, and send you the confirmation for your records. When registration opens for the following year, we remind you so a lapsed UCR never becomes the reason you're sitting at a roadside inspection.

When is UCR due?+
UCR registration opens in the fall for the following year, and must be completed before operating in the new calendar year, meaning by December 31st of the current year.
How much does UCR cost?+
Fees are based on the number of qualifying vehicles in your fleet. The smallest bracket (0-2 vehicles) has the lowest fee, and larger fleets pay more. Pick your bracket when ordering and we confirm it before filing.
What happens if I do not register?+
Operating without valid UCR registration can result in fines during roadside inspections. Some states actively enforce UCR compliance and will keep you pulled over until you file, and then give you a ticket on top of it.
Do brokers and freight forwarders really need UCR?+
Yes. The UCR program covers brokers, forwarders, and leasing companies as well as carriers. Without vehicles, you register at the smallest bracket with the lowest fee.
I only drive within one state. Do I need UCR?+
UCR applies to interstate operations. If you are intrastate only, you generally do not need UCR, though your state may have its own registration requirements.
Is UCR the same as my biennial update?+
No. UCR is an annual state-administered registration fee. The biennial MCS-150 update is a separate FMCSA requirement every two years. Interstate carriers need to keep up with both.
Is UCR included in your start-up packages?+
Yes. Every start-up package includes your current-year UCR at the 0-2 vehicle bracket. This standalone service is for renewals and for companies that already have their authority.
