When Do You Need an Amendment?

You must file an MCS-150 amendment within 30 days of any change to your legal business name, DBA name, physical address, mailing address, phone number, email address, operation type, cargo types, or number of vehicles and drivers.

What Kind of Errors Can Be Corrected?

Errors on your application can include filing for the wrong entity type or authority, an invalid vehicle or driver count, selecting the wrong cargo carried, and more. We can correct all of these, including changing the authority type from one to another, for example broker to carrier.

What Happens After I Order?

Is this the same as a biennial update?+

No. Biennial updates are required every two years on a set schedule. Amendments are filed whenever your information changes, regardless of when your biennial update is due.

What if I don't file an amendment?+

Operating with outdated information can cause problems during audits and roadside inspections. The FMCSA expects your registration to match your current operations.

Can you change my company name on file?+

Yes. We update the name on your FMCSA registration. If you legally changed your business name and hold an MC number, your BOC-3 and insurance filings also need to be updated to match.

Do I need to file if I added or removed a truck?+

Yes. Changes to your vehicle or driver count should be reported within 30 days.

Can you update my minimum insurance requirement?+

Does my DOT number change when I amend?+
