What is a PSP Report?

The Pre-Employment Screening Program gives employers access to a driver's official safety record from FMCSA databases. Unlike an MVR (which shows traffic tickets), the PSP shows commercial vehicle-specific information: crashes, roadside inspections, and violations found during those inspections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I pull a PSP report? A driver might have a clean MVR but a terrible inspection history. The PSP shows out-of-service violations, hours of service violations, vehicle maintenance issues, and crash involvement that won't appear on a standard driving record.

Do I need driver consent? Yes. The driver must authorize the PSP request before you can pull their report. We provide the consent form.

Is a PSP report required by DOT? No, but it's strongly recommended for pre-employment screening. Many carriers use it as a standard part of their hiring process.

What's the difference between PSP and CSA scores? PSP reports are for individual drivers. CSA scores are for carriers. A driver's PSP violations contribute to their employer's CSA scores.
