Employer Clearinghouse Registration

$119.00

Get your FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse employer account set up correctly. The Clearinghouse is the federal database that tracks CDL drivers' drug and alcohol violations, and every carrier with CDL drivers must hold an employer account, including owner-operators who only query themselves.

You need this account to run the required pre-employment query on every new CDL driver and the annual query on every current one, and to receive violation notifications.

We create the account, configure it for compliance, hand you the credentials, and walk you through how queries and reporting actually work (or you can have us handle the queries instead.)

What Is the Clearinghouse?

The FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is a federal database that tracks drug and alcohol violations by CDL drivers. Employers must query the Clearinghouse before hiring a CDL driver and at least once per year for all current CDL drivers.

Without an employer account, you can't run those queries, which makes this one of the first accounts a carrier with CDL drivers has to get right.

What Happens After I Order?

We create and configure your employer account, set up your notifications, hand you the credentials, and walk you through how queries and reporting work. From there you can run queries yourself, or hand the whole thing to our Query Management service and never log in at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as driver registration?+

No. Drivers register their own accounts in the Clearinghouse. Employers register separate employer accounts. You need an employer account to query your drivers.

Can I run queries without an employer account?+

No. You must have a registered employer account to run pre-employment and annual queries on CDL drivers.

Do I need this if I only have one driver?+

Yes. Even owner-operators who drive their own trucks need an employer Clearinghouse account to run queries on themselves.

What do Clearinghouse queries cost?+

The FMCSA charges $1.25 per query. Full queries also require driver consent. We can handle queries for you through our Query Management service, with query costs included.

What's the difference between limited and full queries?+

Limited queries show whether a violation exists but not the details; full queries return the complete record and require driver consent. Pre-employment queries are full; annual queries can be limited.

Do employers have reporting duties too?+

Yes. Employers are required to report certain events to the Clearinghouse, such as positive tests and refusals. The walkthrough we include covers what has to be reported and how to do it.
