How TIPS Won a 2026 BBB Spark Award in Under Two Years

After less than two years in business, we've gone from taking on our first clients to winning a BBB Spark Award. In October 2026, BBB Great West + Pacific named Total Insight Professional Services (TIPS) a 2026 Spark Awards winner for Idaho.

This post covers what the award is, what it took to get here, and what we're doing next.

Quick summary

TIPS, a DOT compliance company in Boise, Idaho, won a 2026 BBB Spark Award for Idaho. The BBB Foundation gives the award to young businesses for their character, culture, and community impact. Bailey Hoak and Samantha Vickery started TIPS in 2025 to give carriers a better option in an industry full of misleading tactics, bad information, and overpriced services.

What is the BBB Spark Award?

The BBB Spark Award recognizes young businesses that do things the right way. Its full name is the BBB Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship, and it comes from BBB Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Better Business Bureau.

To apply, a business has to be three years old or younger, or have an owner who is 35 or younger. It also needs a BBB rating of B or higher. Each applicant writes about three things: character, culture, and community. Judges who have won BBB awards themselves score the finalists. BBB Great West + Pacific then names winners by region and business size.

TIPS was named a winner for Idaho. You can see the full list of 2026 winners on BBB's site, and read more about the award on our Spark Award page.

Why we started TIPS

When Samantha and I started TIPS, we knew there had to be a better way to help carriers with transportation compliance. This industry is full of misleading tactics, bad information, and overpriced services. We needed to be different.

We each spent nearly 10 years in compliance before TIPS. We saw how small carriers got treated, and we wanted no part of it. So we built TIPS around a few simple rules. We show our prices up front on our services page. We don't sell filings a carrier doesn't need. And every client gets one compliance agent who knows their company, instead of a call center. You can read what carriers say about working with us on our testimonials page.

Doing the right thing instead of the easy thing

Every day since we opened, we've had to choose between doing the easy thing or doing the right thing.

Sometimes that means telling a carrier they don't need a filing they were ready to pay for. Sometimes it means taking extra time to get a filing right the first time, so it doesn't come back with problems later. Those choices don't always pay off right away.

Winning this award is proof that staying true to your values and refusing to compromise does not go unrecognized.

To business owners trying to do the right thing

If you want to do the right thing in business but it feels hard while everyone around you is taking shortcuts, keep your head up.

The payoff might take longer. You may have more sleepless nights, and you may be tempted to follow instead of lead. Take it one day at a time and hold on to your integrity. I promise you'll see what waits for you on the other side, sooner than you might think.

What's next for TIPS?

We'll keep doing what we always have. We'll put our carriers first, keep looking for ways to improve, and lead this industry by example.

We're also looking for more ways to get involved with our community and the trucking industry to continue our mission. One is already on the calendar. In June 2027, I'll be speaking at the Midwest Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit in Kansas City. You can find the details on our press page.

The next BBB award on our list is the Torch Award for Ethics. The Torch Awards are for businesses that have been open at least three years, so we won't qualify in 2027. Best believe you'll see us at the Torch Awards in 2028.

Thank you

Thank you to BBB Great West + Pacific for this recognition. Thank you to our clients who put their trust in us every day, to our phenomenal team at TIPS who make it all possible, and to our family and friends who supported us and cheered us on.

We couldn't have made it here without you, and we're so thrilled to share in this success with all of you.
